Meta’s Threads Social Network Continues to Grow Rapidly

Meta’s Threads social network has recently surpassed the 150 million monthly users mark, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey. Despite reaching this impressive milestone, Meta is not slowing down its efforts to increase engagement on the platform. To achieve this goal, the company is running a limited-time bonus program for creators, which was confirmed by TechCrunch.

Limited-Time Invite-Only Program for Creators

The limited-time invite-only program for creators began testing in March and is currently available only to creators in the U.S. However, Meta has hinted that it might expand the program to other regions if successful. According to the company’s support page, invited creators must meet individualized requirements for bonuses.

Eligibility Requirements for Bonus Program

To be eligible for the bonus program, creators must:

  • Make a public Threads profile
  • Follow the rules of Instagram creator incentive terms and rules for bonuses on Instagram

The performance of Threads’ posts (views) and the number of posts are some of the parameters for creators to receive bonuses. Additionally, there are specific guidelines for what kind of posts would be eligible for the bonus program.

Requirements for Eligible Posts

  • A post must receive at least 2,500 views
  • Threads posts with copyrighted material, no text, and boosted views won’t be eligible for bonuses
  • The content shouldn’t have a watermark of another platform such as TikTok or YouTube
  • The posted content shouldn’t be a brand partnership post

Checking Earnings on Professional Dashboard

Creators can check their earnings on the professional dashboard. However, they might need to earn a minimum amount to receive a payout. In some cases, creators may not receive any bonus payout if they don’t reach the minimum amount.

Potential Impact on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter)

The new bonus program might push Instagram users with substantial following to post more on Threads and, in turn, also port over some of their following. Instagram already shows suggested Threads on its app. Users might want to check out Meta’s rival X (formerly Twitter) more frequently if their favorite creators are posting on the app.

Long-Term Plans for Creators to Earn Money on Threads

The monetary benefits might be temporary, as Meta hasn’t detailed long-term plans for creators to earn money on Threads. However, this program presents a good opportunity for creators who want to build out an audience on the new platform.
